Reform Jewish camping is an integral part of the Reform Jewish experience in North America. Since its establishment in 1947, the URJ Camp Newman Institute for Living Judaism has always maintained a unique culture of living Judaism. Our mission is to inspire campers and staff to take camp home and apply their Jewish learning to their daily lives, ultimately bettering themselves, their communities and the world.

We fulfill this mission by creating a spiritual oasis that bestows on campers and staff enhanced self-esteem, a more positive Jewish identity, a greater knowledge of Judaism and lifelong friendships. We create an enriching, enjoyable community of living Judaism for all ages, all seasons and all of life.

Since purchasing our Santa Rosa site in 1997, URJ Camp Newman has flourished, and has become the West Coast’s largest reform camp, serving over 1,400 campers each summer. URJ Camp Newman draws from over 80 congregations in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii, and El Paso, Texas.

Sitting on 500 acres in the Santa Rosa Mountains, URJ Camp Newman is able to offer a diverse range of programs and activities. With our full sports program, an intricate Arts program which includes both visual and performing arts, and our adventure program, Camp Newman offers its campers, ranging in age from 7-17, opportunities to learn new skills, meet new friends, and develop their own Jewish identity. A summer at Camp Newman is a summer like none other!
