Everyone I know is feeling big feelings in these challenging times. Sometimes, those feelings can shortcut our thinking, causing cognitive distortions. We are surrounded by so much stimuli that it can become challenging to understand what is important. Logically, we fall back on experiences and biases from our past.

These cognitive distortions are naturally occurring inaccuracies in our thinking. These thoughts often reinforce negative thinking or emotions - telling ourselves things that sound rational and accurate, but really only serve to keep us feeling bad about ourselves or misinterpreting our environment. One we are able to identify these distortions, we're better able to see the situation more clearly and with greater perspective.

This week, we'll be talking about the challenge of identifying some of these thoughts, discussing ways to shine a positive light on our feelings and commiserating about these challenges as we connect and share.

Join us Friday, May 1st at 11 am for our weekly Community Connection Zoom Group!

This week's topic:  Cognitive Distortions
